INTRO
Much has been written today, and opinions are not lacking, in regards to God, His nature, and the Father, His only begotten Son - Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. If we aren’t careful, it can be all too easy to let traditions or other men become the source of our doctrinal defenses rather than the Bible.
It is my personal goal, to the best of my abilities, to ensure that every doctrinal belief that I have is firmly rooted in the Bible in every particular. Over the years, I’ve found that specific details of various doctrines were not actually supported by scripture but rather from non-biblical sources. In discovering these things, it has led me on journeys, at times, to see what the Bible does actually have to say on a particular point.
In this writing, I’m not looking to add much in the way of commentary, or to make any statements doctrinally, but rather I’m just going to let the Bible speak for itself on a few things pertaining to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is my hope and prayer that in reading only what the Bible has to say, that some will be prompted to give further study and reflection to these matters. The goal then being that we would all be strengthened in our ability to defend each detail of our beliefs from the solid foundation of the Bible alone. (sola scriptura)
In particular, we will be looking at verses in the New Testament. There will be some overlap with certain verses, as I have organized them topically and some verses apply to more than one topic. Additionally, on certain topics, more verses could also be used, so this isn’t intended to be an exhaustive and complete listing.

Jn 14:16–18 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Ro 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Ro 9:1 I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,
2 Co 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
Ga 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Php 1:19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
1 Pe 1:10–11; 2 Peter 1:21 Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: 11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Closing
This is a lot of scripture (and more could certainly be said), but it has been very helpful for me at times to see various scriptures organized together. When scriptures are compiled together, it really helps to make a person think about what the Bible actually says and whether their specific understandings and beliefs of doctrines align with the words of the Bible or not.
May God inspire us all to be more devoted students of His word, which He has left us for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness. (1 Tim 3:16)
God Bless,
Charles
