Texas' Ten Commandments Bill

Texas Senate Bill 10
Texas has recently passed SB10 - a bill that will require the ten commandments to be posted in every public school classroom.
During recent years, there has been a steady rise across our country that there should be no separation of church and state. Other states have passed or considered similar bills to SB10, but Texas is now the latest to pass such a bill under the new Trump administration.
It goes without saying that this is certain to create a stir amongst those who are irreligious or simply against anything having to do with church and state coming together. But what of Christendom? What should the response be amongst those who call themselves Christians and followers of Jesus Christ, who Himself said “if you love me, keep my commandments”?
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15, KJV)
“He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” (John 14:21, KJV)
“If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.” (John 15:10, KJV)
Christianity Today
Five years ago, I would have viewed this move as a positive thing. As a Christian, it is quite grievous to look upon the moral breakdowns of society and families (both in the world and in the churches). In many churches throughout the world, Christianity has become less about Christ,1 bearing one’s cross,2 and keeping His commandments,3 and more about loving self, pleasure, and entertainment.4 Such misguidance in the lives of Christians have firmly planted the church in the Laodicean age of religion,5 having a form of godliness but lacking the power to overcome sin and to turn from worldly pursuits.6
If people would actually turn to God, not in a form of religion - but rather in a full surrender of heart, drastic changes (for good) would take place in families that would ripple across cities, states, and the nation.
Knowing this, it understandable that some may see the promotion of something in our public schools as vital as the law of God as a positive thing for society. However, can legislation and an outward force upon the human will be successful in bringing about the conviction of heart that comes from the Holy Spirit?7 Is the legislation (force) of beliefs in keeping with the ways and teachings of Jesus, who stated His kingdom as not being of this world?8
Prophecy
The above points are good to consider, but there is one more point, of great significance, which must be stated… Prophecy.
You might be wondering how a bill in a state of the USA can have anything to do with prophecy in the Bible. The answer is that it has everything to do with biblical prophecy!
Allow me to explain:
In a previous writing, I showed how the first beast in Revelation 13 is the papacy. Though I have not yet written specifically on this topic, the second beast of Revelation 13 is actually the United States of America. In the past, I have heard people wonder how a powerful nation like America could be missing from the pages of the Bible. As it turns out, it isn’t missing, one just has to know where to look for it within the symbols.
In Revelation 13:14, we see that America is going to be responsible for building an image (likeness) to the first beast (papacy). This image, like the papacy, will include a joining together of church and state. When church and state are no longer separated in the USA, religious laws will begin to be enforced by the power and force of the state.
All of this will culminate with America forcing a mark upon people of all classes, known as the “mark of the beast.”9 Not surprisingly, with the papacy being a religious power, the mark of the beast will be centered around the subject of worship.10 This worship and the mark become extremely important when they are enforced because all who receive the mark will perish with eternal death.11
Conclusion
Much more can be said of all these things than what this one article will allow. Let us conclude with the understanding that in all of the states that are now passing or considering the passing of laws that are “Christian” in appearance, that this is not the rumblings of a nation turning back to God. No, they are signs of prophecy beginning to be fulfilled and the image to the beast being formed.
Truly, Christ is at the door. (Rev 3:20) The time of His second advent draws continually closer with each prophetic milestone that is passed.
May God help us all to prepare and to warn those around us who are not ready for what is coming. Once the image is fully formed, it is only a matter of time before it persecutes. This beast looks Christian, but is driven by Satan.
“And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.” (Revelation 13:11, KJV)
God Bless,
